What is CSC key On Samsung?
CSC stands for Consumer Software Customization” or “Country Specific Code“. It plays an important role in the firmware of Samsung devices. It consists of customized settings, system configurations, localizations, and geo-specific things such as the system language, APN settings, and carrier-branding. Samsung update servers check on the CSC code of your Samsung device and match it with the geolocation where it’s being used. If both these things match before sending OTA updates to your device. This is why some Samsung devices get the OTA before while others have to wait.
So if you change the CSC of your phone then you will get the update according to the new CSC> For instance if you have a device in India and the CSC code is also of India. But you get the update late when compared to Europe. So you can change the CSC to Europe and your device will get the update right alongside the European Samsung device will get the update.
How To Check CSC Of Your Device?
Well checking the CSC key of your Samsung device is pretty easy. All you have to do is Go To Settings >> About Phone >> Software Information >> Under Service provider software version you can see written the CSC Key Code. For reference below is the screenshot of a Galaxy S20+ running on One UI 3.0 with Indian CSC Key. Notice it says INU for Indian CSC and the CSC code is OXM. Your device should have something similar to it only.
Alternatively, you can check by dialling *#1234# on your dialer. it will show the software information. In that CSC is mentioned and notice the three letters in between for Indian users it will also be OXM.
Note: If you have flashed a Multi-CSC firmware, your device will automatically switch itself to the Country Specific Code based on your network provider on the first boot.
How to Change CSC Of Your Samsung Device?
- Open your phone’s dialer and type the following code with your device IMEI number: *#272*IMEI number# (replace the IMEI number text with your device’s IMEI number). Find IMEI number by dialling *#06#.
- you’ll see a screen with the list of available CSC codes for your device.
- Select the CSC that you want and tap the Install option.
- Your phone will reboot automatically.
- Congrats! You’ve successfully changed the CSC on your Samsung Galaxy device.
