Custom Notification Sounds

Nothing has kept this functionality in mind has pre-loaded a bunch of notification sounds on the Phone (1) that sync with the Glyph lights. So, each time you get a notification, the LEDs on the back will light up. It’s quite helpful whenever you place your phone face down or prefer it to be in silent mode. To customize the notification sound:

  1. Open the Settings app
  2. Navigate to the Glyph Interface option.
  3. Click on Notification sounds.
  4. Now, select Nothing ringtones. You can also use a sound from your phone by selecting My sounds.
  5. Go through the different options of light effects.
  6. After you select one tone, tap on Save in the top-right corner.

Now every time you get a notification the phone will light up based on the custom light effect you have selected.

Custom Ringtones

Nothing provides the option to set custom light effects based on specific contacts. Therefore you would know who is calling based on the light effect. To do it:

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Select the Glyph Interface option.
  3. Tap on Ringtones.
  4. Select the Default ringtone option to choose one standard ringtone for all calls.
  5. Tap on Nothing ringtones. Alternatively, select My sounds to import a tune from your phone.
  6. Go through the different options and select the one you like.
  7. Tap on Save to set your ringtone.
  8. If you want to set custom ringtones for individual contacts, select Add a contact under Custom contacts.
  9. Select the contact you want to add a customized ringtone for.
  10. Click on Nothing ringtones.
  11. Go through the options and choose the one you like.
  12. Tap on Save to set your ringtone.

Battery Charging Indicator

The bottom strip of LED in the Nothing Phone 1 can be used as a charging indicator. This is very helpful as you don’t have to constantly check your phone to see how much has been charged as you can see it from a distance.

  1.  Open the Settings app
  2. Select the Glyph Interface option.
  3. Scroll down and tap on the Charging meter option.
  4. Turn on the feature.

Fall light for Photography

The LEDs on the back of Nothing Phone 1 are soft white lights which can be used to click photos in the dark. They are not bright enough to light up far away objects but for close subjects, they can be a better alternative than the flash as the lights are spread evenly.

  2. Tap on the flash icon in the top-left corner.
  3. Tap it multiple times till you arrive at the Glyph lighting mode.

Flip to Glyph

Flip to Glyph is a neat feature i.e. when you turn the phone upside down, it automatically enables the Glyph Lights and your phone will be in silent mode.   1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Select the Glyph Interface option.
  3. Scroll down to the bottom of the Advanced features section. Tap on ‘Flip to Glyph’ under it.
