How to Use Find My Mobile on Samsung?
Losing your new Samsung phone can be a nightmare that no user would ever want to go through. But things do take a turn sideways and your all-new phone might be lost or stolen. The Find My Mobile feature on Samsung is the direct answer to the Find My Phone app on iPhones. It allows users to locate their lost phones even if they are not connected to the network.
The Offline Finding feature allows your lost phone to be found by other people’s Galaxy devices even if it’s not connected to a network. It will also allow your phone to be used to scan for lost devices that may be nearby.
This feature can also be used to find Wearables, watches, earbuds or others. If the offline finding is enabled for your device and it was the last device they connected to.
How to Enable Offline Finding
- Open the Settings app.
- Scroll down to the Biometrics & Security option and tap on it.
- Select the Find My Mobile option.
- Tap and Offline Sending and enable it.
Other features in the Find My Phone sections include Remote Unlock and Send Last Location.
This feature allows a user to securely store their PIN, password or pattern. This enables the user to unlock their phone in case they forget the password. This feature also allows the user to control their lost device remotely even if it’s locked.
Send Last Location
This feature sends the last location of your phone to the Find My Mobile server if the battery on a phone falls below a certain limit. This can be useful in determining the last known location of your phone if it’s lost or stolen.
Smart Things is Samsung’s way to interconnect every device you own to make life simpler for its users. Since Samsung makes everything from Home Appliances, Mobiles, Laptops, Earbuds, Watches etc. Smart Things is a great concept, in theory, to implement and control every device on its network.
Since this app works collectively with every device, it can also be used to track lost devices. The SmartThings Find can be used to track down supported devices in case they are lost or stolen.
The SmartThings Find feature uses Ultra Wide Band (UWB) and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology to quickly locate supported lost devices. Users will have to complete a brief registration process, after which they’ll be able to locate their Galaxy devices, down to each earbud.
Samsung says SmartThings Find will guide you to your lost device with integrated map directions and the ability to ping it. The service also includes an AR-based Search Nearby function that displays colour graphics that increase in intensity as you get closer to your lost device.
It can even locate offline devices. Once a device has been offline for 30 minutes. It will produce a BLE signal that can be received by other Galaxy devices. If you report your device as lost via SmartThings Find. A nearby Galaxy phone or tablet that has opted to help find misplaced devices will be able to alert the Samsung server about its location.
