Everything About the Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 processor
Qualcomm is all set to unveil its newest and most powerful processor ever. The new processor is based on 5nm similar to what Apple’s A14 is made of. The processor will be powering a lot of 2021 flagship phones. Previously, the Snapdragon 865 and 865+ were already 5G ready. So this one will also be 5G. It is going to be interesting to see how it competes with its main rival Apple silicon. Qualcomm has managed to reduce the gap between Apple’s processors and their own. As we have seen in between Snapdragon 865 and A13 the difference was minimal. So let’s see this time if Qualcomm is able to surpass the performance of Apple’s A14 Bionic chip. So here is everything about Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor.
Earlier, we got the news that Qualcomm will be naming their latest Snapdragon Processor 875. And that should be how the naming should be followed up as the previous generation were Snapdragon 845, 855 and 865. However, the other day we got some leaks and rumours that the latest processor will not be named as Snapdragon 875. Instead, Qualcomm will be naming it as Snapdragon 888 processor. The latest-gen processor by Qualcomm will be paired up with Adreno 660 GPU. We have already seen the raw power of Adren 650 GPU coupled with Snapdragon 865. The processor was able to handle games like PUBG Mobile with HDR graphics and Ultra FPS(60-90 FPS) without breaking a sweat.
Everything new about Snapdragon 888
What’s new with the Snapdragon 888 processor is that Qualcomm will be using a new architecture. The new ARM X1 Core along with Cortex cores. ARM expects that a 5nm 3.0GHz Cortex-A78 can provide a 20% performance improvement over a 7nm 2.6GHz Cortex-A77 core while consuming the same amount of power. Meanwhile, the Cortex-X1 could offer a further 23% improvement over the Cortex-A78 on the same manufacturing process. 1 X1 core and 3 high-performance A-77/78 core and 4 efficient A-55 core setup are likely the furthest we’ll see the Snapdragon 888 push performance. The processor will be directly competing with Exynos 2100 Apple A14 Bionic.
Samsung is all set to use the cortex X1 cores in their upcoming Exynos 2100 processor. But we simply cannot trust Samsung and their Exynos processor, Since the past few processors of Exynos have been performing very poor.
Besides, this Qualcomm will also be using a new ISP and it will be capable of shooting videos at 60 fps in 8K quality. Also from the networking side, it will be having Bluetooth 5.1 BLE along with full support of WIFI 6. We can also expect WIFI 6E support. Also, with this processor being capable of 5G, so more and more phones will be launched in the coming years which will be 5G. Which means we can expect 5G to rollout on a widespread scale.
There are rumours that Qualcomm might unveil a Lite version of their latest processor. Either way, it’s going to be a good show, if you want to catch the show live. below We have added the live event it will start at 8.30 pm IST and 7 am PST on December 1, 2020.
